A major creative leap from 2007's MARRY ME, Annie Clark's debut as St. Vincent, ACTOR is a richly textured pop record full to the brim with memorable tunes, detailed and luscious arrangements, and clever lyrics. Clark, a multi-instrumentalist who previously worked with Sufjan Stevens and the Polyphonic Spree, is a gifted songwriter and arranger with a sweet pure-pop voice that shines through on tracks such as "The Strangers," the lush, dreamy (save for one unexpectedly rocking interlude) lead track.
