Discovery is the second studio album by French electronic music duo Daft Punk, originally released in 2001. It marked a shift from the Chicago house sound prevalent on their first studio record, Homework (1997), to a house style more heavily inspired by disco, post-disco, garage house, and R&B. The album was recorded in Paris between 1998 and 2000. The album features extensive sampling; some samples are from older records, while others were recorded by Daft Punk playing live instruments themselves. Like its predecessor, STRAWBERRY JAM, MERRIWEATHER takes plenty of cues from PERSON PITCH, the acclaimed 2007 solo outing by singer/multi-instrumentalist Panda Bear (Noah Lennox), creating a mesmerizing, kaleidoscopic keyboard-heavy sound that might pass for pop in an alternate universe. While "My Girls" comes off like a dream collaboration between Brians Eno and Wilson, "Summertime Clothes" is a heavily looped piece of skewed synth-pop, and "Brother Sport" is a busy, highly percussive number that could almost pass for dance music. Though fans of Animal Collective's early lo-fi recordings may be alarmed by PAVILION's striking aural sheen, the album retains the group's signature strangeness, recasting it in bright, shimmering light. One of the best indie-pop releases of early '09, MERRIWEATHER POST PAVILION is an impressive addition to the Animal Collective's revered catalogue, and marks a considerable step forward for the ever-adventurous act.

Genre: Pop

Format: Vinyl

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0754/8859/2179/files/animal-collective-merriweather-post-pavilion-2-lps_wxhdT.jpg?v=1687742475

UK LP pressing. Whereas their previous effort, FEELS, bordered on sonic wallpaper at times, with a lushness of voices, loops, and nature sounds, STRAWBERRY JAM--the band's 2007 Domino Records debut--returns the quartet to form with a song cycle of characteristically inventive melodic meanderings and ever-shifting production candy.
While the band was never really folk, STRAWBERRY JAM finds them severing themselves entirely from any freak-folk allegiances, as almost all the more acoustic elements of earlier records have been replaced with noise bursts, electronic blips and loops, keyboard swells, and even electric guitar muscle. Their earlier records were hardly na?ve, but STRAWBERRY JAM reveals a band maturing in identity so confidently in their collective magic that they can offer what seems like a standard pop melody ("Peacebone," the ecstatic "For Reverend Green") and embrace an overall slicker approach, yet still have an air of revelation about them. Then John Panduranga Henderson -- who sang with Ray Charles -- delivers a moaning, gospelized solo as Coltrane vamps on his blues. This isn't common Hare Krishna chanting, folks. This music is compiled from four privately pressed cassettes (Turiya Sings [1982]; Divine Songs [1987]; Infinite Chants [1992], and Glorious Chants [1995]) that Coltrane distributed to members of the Sai Antaram Ashram (which she founded) between 1982 and 1995. Some were recorded in professional studios; all were engineered by Baker Bigsby -- who oversaw the tape transfers here from the masters -- and represent a startling chapter in her musical legacy. The music exists in the space where "ecstatic" meets "heavy." Coltrane, known to her followers as Turiyasangitananda ("the Transcendental Lord's highest song of bliss"), brought all of her musical history to bear in these pieces, from her beginnings playing piano in the churches of Detroit and the hard bop she played there to Paris and New York, to the vanguard, which she embraced with openness and helped to redefine with a softer, more spacious approach.
The most amazing aspect of this music is what few have heard before: Coltrane's very deep and physical singing voice; her lead vocals are featured on most of the album, and it's another instrument she commands (though she wouldn't see it that way). On "Om Shanti," she accompanies herself on organ using breath control in an airy, devoted chant. On "Rama Rama," sarod, tablas, and her Oberheim synth add blissful dimensions to her quietly passionate singing. "Keshavas Murahara" commences with strings (her chart), Oberheim, and droning organ; her voice emerges as if from smoke, slowly intoning the prayer, dirge-like, but jazz informs her phrasing as the synth winds around her voice. The first half of "Journey in Satchidananda" features only her organ and Oberheim. It's droning, bluesy, and heavy -- nearly Gothic. When the Ashram Singers come in and Joshua Spiegelman adds a flute, some light enters. Tamil singer Sairam Iyer solos in his own language, opening the heart of the chant and bringing it home. Harp makes its presence felt on "Er Ra," where Coltrane's playing moves across Eastern and Western modes as her singing emerges in sweet, blues-inflected lines. Luaka Bop did everything right for The Ecstatic Music of Alice Coltrane Turyirasangitananda, from getting full participation from her family to create an amazing package with a great long essay by Ashley Khan, to reminiscences, to excellent sound. This is not just ecstatic music, but cosmic soul music. Plastic Beach -- the 2010 album that served as the group's last major opus (The Fall, released just months later, was that LP's bittersweet coda) -- found Albarn stepping toward the center stage but on Humanz he recedes, giving his collaborators the spotlight and softening whatever complicated narrative he and illustrator Jamie Hewlett devised for their cartoon group's fourth phase. Maybe this is why Humanz feels wild and unruly in a way Plastic Beach never did: the emphasis is on the individual cuts, not the grand concept. Some themes are woven throughout the record -- there's a political undercurrent, although the upheavals of Trump and Brexit are never addressed directly; there's a heavy reliance on R&B and hip-hop -- but the album seems pleasingly scattershot as it bounces from guest to guest. Its messiness suits the digital era, when it's possible to swipe from style to style without a second thought, but Humanz isn't haphazard. Albarn deliberately sculpts each cut, giving plenty of space for Vince Staples, Grace Jones, Danny Brown, Anthony Hamilton, Mavis Staples, Pusha T, and longtime Gorillaz mainstay De La Soul to roam. That list of guest artists underscores how Humanz feels connected to soul in a way Plastic Beach didn't, but with its careening, carnivalesque hooks and skeletal 2-Tone spook -- not to mention how the whole thing is anchored on "Busted and Blue," a Damon solo track that could've slid onto Everyday Robots -- it's clearly an Albarn project. But even with its heavy, heavy R&B vibe and roiling politics, Humanz feels strangely uplifting, as if every musician who entered the studio found solace in the act of creation. That's why "We Got the Power" -- a collaboration with Savages singer Jehnny Beth and Damon's onetime rival Noel Gallagher -- is such a fitting closer: in dark times, it finds hope and inspiration in the power of the collective, which is a testament to what Albarn intends to do with Gorillaz. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Genre: Hip Hop

Format: Vinyl

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0754/8859/2179/files/gorillaz-humanz-explicit-content-2-lps_ihf8B.jpg?v=1687754468
the-chemical-brothers-come-with-us-gatefold-lp-jacket-reissue-2-lps-vinyl
The Chemical Brothers - Come With Us (Gatefold LP Jacket, Reissue) (2 Lp's) - Vinyl

The Chemical Brothers: Tom Rowlands, Ed Simons.
Additional personnel includes: Beth Orton, Richard Ashcroft (vocals); Shovell, Beverley Skeete, Greg Flemming, James Hunt.
Recorded at Miloco Studios, South London, England.
The Chemical Brothers: Tom Rowlands, Ed Simons.
Additional personnel includes: Beth Orton, Richard Ashcroft (vocals); Shovell, Beverley Skeete, Greg Fleming, James Hunt.
Since their arrival on the scene in the early '90s, the Chemical Brothers (a.k.a. As Stenzel notes, "Jodo's voice is actually the soundtrack's main musical instrument-listening to him was almost like hypnosis, like going to the guru every night."

Arca is one of the world's most transformative musical talents. The bulk of Air's charm has always been the stylistic tweaking and sonic hijinks they perpetrate over the course of an album's production and arrangements; they've never claimed to be brilliant songwriters. Thus, with the emphasis off the construction of original material and more appropriately placed on the band and their various collaborators' ability to make electronic magic in the studio, EVERYBODY HERTZ is in some ways more of a triumph than its predecessor.
The Mr. Oizo remix of "Don't Be Light" is distinguished by Kraftwerkian, minimalist electro flavoring. On-U Sound's progressive dub visionary Adrian Sherwood takes "How Does it Make You Feel" to Jamaica, adding roots-reggae beats and Augustus Pablo-like melodica riffs, adding a new dimension to the robotic Barry White orientation of the original song. By the time we arrive at Jack Lahana's remix of the pulsing "People in the City," with its urgently lascivious hip-hop touches, Air's tunes have been fully transformed. The bonus live video track of the same tune provides a good opportunity to see how Air pulls of their complex arrangements in a performance setting, not to mention a chance to gawk at all their vintage gear.

Genre: Electronic

Format: Vinyl

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0754/8859/2179/files/air-moon-safari-180-gram-vinyl_0T6jp.jpg?v=1688004443
brian-eno-lux-vinyl
Brian Eno - Lux - Vinyl
LUX is Brian Eno's first solo album on Warp Records and his first solo release since 2005's Another Day on Earth. In my mind was a recording that let the listeners leave the busy mind generated by mainstream media, so I came up with the idea of a baptism, immersive kind of LP in which the listener would Become totally present with the music. I suggested to Kramer the title 'Baptismal', and that the tracks would be called 'Gedunk', a comical reference to the idea of being immersed in water, my own baptism as a child in the Christian faith, the Baptist church. I started by sending Kramer several tracks of Zither-centric music in the length of individual LP sides. Kramer would complement the tracks with plush drones and return it to me. Then we would discuss. Soon we had enough material to move toward completing the album. I performed with piano keyboard, ZITHER and voice. We collaborated entirely by sending audio files back and forth via online transfer. We haven't had physical contact at all during the project, but it went smoothly with some minor suggestions to help us to shape up our navigation til we finally arrived. The album cover was suggested by Kramer, which I think is very appropriate. The project started in 2022. Mark Kramer, an old young friend. We connected in New York City when he was here in the 80s. - Laraaji, Jan. 2023

I met Laraaji by chance in NYC's Central Park one fine summer day in 1985. I'd been thinking about the wisdom vs. The futility of starting my own record company a lot in those days, and as I walked through one of the parks many tunnels, I heard what I'd recognized to be Laraaji's 'Day of Radiance' playing on what i'd assumed to be someone's beatbox. I thought to myself, "How nice it is to be alive in NYC in 1985 on a day like this in Central Park and knowing that someone loves this wondrous LP from Eno's Obscure Records label as much as I do." But when I emerged from the tunnel I saw not a beatbox but Laraaji himself sitting in a lotus position on a hillside, hammering gently on a zither plugged into an echo pedal and a small battery powered amplifier. I sat down about ten feet in front of him, shut my eyes, and LISTENED. About an hour later, the music carefully rolled into the natural silence surrounding it, and I opened my eyes. We met each other's gazes, and smiled. "Peace", he said. We talked and became fast friends. A few days later he was in my studio, Noise New York, recording a zither imaprovisationa that would soon become his contribution to the very first Shimmy-Disc release, a compilation titled 'The 20th Anniversary of the Summer of Love'. The so-called 'Ambient Music' scene was still in it's infancy at the time, and we agreed then and there that we would someday, when the time was right, make a collaborative LP together. Someday turned into some decades, and not long after Shimmy-Disc was relaunched in 2021, I called my old friend and suggested that we make good on our dreams. He agreed and suggested the title 'Baptismal', and the imagery instantly began blossoming in my head. 'Baptismal' began as Laraaji's beautiful idea and became Ambient Symphony #1 in four Movements. Three of those movements fit onto the vinyl LP. All four are on the 60 minute long CD and cassette. Next comes Ambient Symphony #2. There will then be a third, to complete the cycle. I am deeply honored to see my nearly 40 year friendship with Laraaji manifest itself into a series of collaborative compositions that can be experienced long after both of us are gone. The Tron: Legacy score indulged the seminal dance duo's sci-fi fantasies but didn't offer much in the way of catchy songs, so when Random Access Memories' extensive publicity campaign featured tantalizing clips of a new single, "Get Lucky," their fan base exploded. But when the album finally arrived, that hugely hyped single was buried far down its track list, emphasizing that most of these songs are very much not like "Get Lucky" -- or a lot of the pair's previous music, at least on the surface. The album isn't much like 2010s EDM, either. Instead, Daft Punk separate themselves from most contemporary electronic music and how it's made, enlisting some of their biggest influences to help them get the sounds they needed without samples. On Homework's "Teachers," they reverently name-checked a massive list of musicians and producers; here, they place themselves on equal footing with disco masterminds Giorgio Moroder and Nile Rodgers, referring to them as "collaborators." That could be self-aggrandizing, yet it's also strangely humble when they take a back seat to their co-stars, especially on one of RAM's definitive moments, "Giorgio by Moroder," where the producer shares his thoughts on making music with wild guitar and synth solos trailing behind him. Elsewhere, Daft Punk nod to their symbiotic relationship with indie on the lovely "Doin' It Right," which makes the most of Panda Bear's boyish vocals, and on the Julian Casablancas cameo "Instant Crush," which is only slightly more electronic than the Strokes' Comedown Machine. And of course, Pharrell Williams is the avatar of their dancefloor mastery on the sweaty disco of "Lose Yourself to Dance" as well as "Get Lucky," which is so suave that it couldn't help but be an instant classic, albeit a somewhat nostalgic one. Indeed, "memories" is the album's keyword: Daft Punk celebrate the late '70s and early '80s with lavish homages like "Give Life Back to Music" -- one of several terrific showcases for Rodgers -- and the spot-on soft rock of the Todd Edwards collaboration "Fragments of Time." More importantly, Random Access Memories taps into the wonder and excitement in that era's music. A particularly brilliant example is "Touch," where singer/songwriter Paul Williams conflates his work in Phantom of the Paradise and The Muppet Movie in the song's mystique, charm, and fragile yet unabashed emotions. Often, there's an almost gooey quality to the album; Daft Punk have never shied away from "uncool" influences or sentimentality, and both are on full display here. At first, it's hard to know what to make of all the fromage, but Random Access Memories reveals itself as the kind of grand, album rock statement that listeners of the '70s and '80s would have spent weeks or months dissecting and absorbing -- the ambition of Steely Dan, Alan Parsons, and Pink Floyd are as vital to the album as any of the duo's collaborators. For the casual Daft Punk fan, this album might be harder to love than "Get Lucky" hinted; it might be too nostalgic, too overblown, a shirking of the group's duty to rescue dance music from the Young Turks who cropped up in their absence. But Random Access Memories is also Daft Punk's most personal work, and richly rewarding for listeners willing to spend time with it. ~ Heather Phares

Genre: Electronic

Format: Vinyl

Best Sellers: Top50

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0754/8859/2179/files/daft-punk-random-access-memories-180g-2-lp_9Q1O2.jpg?v=1688005219

Considered by many to be the ultimate ambient album, MUSIC FOR AIRPORTS is so delicate, lovely, and aesthetically moving, that it has been known to give rise to sensations of flying, being enfolded in warm blankets, or watching a vision take place in the heavens. Despite the acclaim, along with admiration from the likes of Janet Jackson and Teedra Moses -- two of the major figures whose material he transformed -- the Port-au-Prince-born Montreal native wanted to be known as an artist in his own right. A low-profile series of digital and vinyl releases dated back to 2010. In late 2014, he graduated to XL as he expanded his production discography for other artists. The dazzling 99.9% follows some of his best work in that nature, including Freddie Gibbs' "Dope House," the Internet's "Girl," and Katy B's "Honey." The album likewise is mostly collaborative, with only four of the 15 cuts created by Celestin alone. During the solo moments, the producer radically flips, with joyous and glistening flair, choice early-'80s R&B from Delegation, and the System-produced Attitude. On "Lite Spots," sampled Gal Costa is whipped into a state of delirium over a beat that alternately whomps and tickles. Separate pairings with BadBadNotGood and Karriem Riggins offer dreamy instrumental highlights. The assortment of vocalists -- rappers, singers, and a few who pull double duty -- naturally results in a diverse set of perspectives, most of which regard love and relationships of short- and long-term natures. Combined with beats seemingly tailored for each voice, the album could have resembled a disorderly production showcase, yet Celestin applies his experience as a deeply knowledgeable selector to stitch it all together with few obvious seams. He excels most at bold modern boogie with spring-loaded drums, zip-and-glide basslines, and radiant keyboards, as laid out for the Internet's Syd and the Foreign Exchange's Phonte. The harder-edged tracks that support Vic Mensa and Paak are likewise accented with sweetening, whether through levitating harmonies or spangly synthesizers. One of the more stupefying instances where Celestin layers dazed and robust sounds is buried toward the end. "Leave Me Alone," surrogate Quadron with bounding low end, brings it home with a giddy vocal from fellow Montreal native Shay Lia. ~ Andy Kellman

Genre: Electronic

Format: Vinyl

For 26-year-old Steve Ellison's deservedly hyped third album, Flying Lotus loosened the reins and set out to make Cosmogramma, which his label, Warp, promoted as a space opera of sorts. More of a long-playing, cohesive listen than the prior year's excellent Los Angeles, which felt like a collection of insular, Dilla-inspired beats, Flying Lotus evolved into a forerunner of his own personal genre. On this, his most far-out release to date, he incorporates a thicker amount of live instrumentation (horns, strings, bass, guitar, and even harp) with his laptop manipulations, and branches away from hip-hop. Call it futuristic fusion, if you will, but the result is much more ahead of the curve than, say, Herbie Hancock's Future 2 Future (though it shares some similarities) and more on par with a Jaga Jazzist or a Four Tet release. That is, it's left of center. Free jazz plays a huge part, and Flylo draws deeply from his Coltrane lineage, but he also dips into past-prime electronic and dance styles. Techno, house, and drum'n'bass all take shape alongside IDM blips, dubstep, and disco strings or blaxploitation soundtrack orchestration, courtesy of OutKast and Erykah Badu arranger Miguel Atwood-Ferguson. As a mass of shape-shifting layers, the album mutates constantly throughout the tracks, in a dense soundscape that sometimes feels palpable and at other times becomes liquid, rife with bottomless possibilities. Cosmogramma is an instrumental genre-jumping journey for head-bopping intellectuals, and the meditative melodies by vocalists Thundercat, Laura Darlington, and Thom Yorke only add to the experience. ~ Jason Lymangrover

Genre: Electronic

Format: Vinyl

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0754/8859/2179/files/flying-lotus-cosmogramma-2-lps_meRIJ.jpg?v=1688005236
flying-lotus-until-the-quiet-comes-2-lps-vinyl
Flying Lotus - Until the Quiet Comes (2 Lp's) - Vinyl

Rewarding as it was for most lovers of 1983 and Los Angeles, Cosmogramma was so complex and knotted that Steven Ellison's next step could have gone beyond the challenging and into the self-parodic. On his fourth album, Ellison not only peels away layers from his sound but organizes his tracks into a gracefully flowing sequence. The producer once again draws from numerous instrumentalists and vocalists, from Brainfeeder associates Stephen "Thundercat" Bruner and Austin Peralta to the likes of Erykah Badu and Thom Yorke. Bruner has the most presence. His tremulous basslines are on nine of the album's 18 tracks, and his spaced-out, quasi-oracular vocals poke through on occasion, such as on an 80-second track that is titled after a natural psychedelic compound and references the title of Ellison's 2010 EP. True to Flying Lotus form, Bruner's voice, as well as those of everyone else, is made to sound phantasmal rather than spotlit. While much of the material on Ellison's previous three albums came across like brief and isolated ideas with an impact unaffected by the shuffle function, the shorter pieces here act more like true connectors or proper set-ups/interludes. The 12 minutes from "See Thru to U" through "Only if You Wanna" make for the album's least divisible section. It begins with lithe and slightly unsettling pattering and closes with a futuristic, organic-synthetic jazz trio piece. Somewhere in the middle, there's "The Nightcaller," the closest the album gets to dancefloor funk like Cosmogramma's "Do the Astral Plane" -- that is, until the last minute, when the gliding/chugging beat stammers and switches to a delirious strut. For all the elegiac and turbulent moments, several tracks, including the majestically wistful "Getting There" and the cascading "Until the Colours Come," are gorgeously starry and even lullaby-like, laced with ear-perking flourishes. And then there's the alien critter voice on "Putty Boy Strut," and the bizarrely bleak and comical "Electric Candyman," featuring Yorke, which arouses some serious cognitive dissonance by provoking thoughts of Tony Todd and Beyonc? ("Say my name, say my name, say my name"). Ellison's trademarks -- skittering and rustling percussion atop slightly irregular drums that knock and thud, for instance -- factor almost as much as ever, but his slight adjustments and increased restraint make this his most accessible and creative release yet. ~ Andy Kellman

Genre: Electronic

Format: Vinyl

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0754/8859/2179/files/flying-lotus-until-the-quiet-comes-2-lps_nIFDH.jpg?v=1688005242
visible-cloaks-yoshio-ojima-satsuki-shibano-frkwys-vol-15-serenitatem-vinyl
Visible Cloaks Yoshio Ojima & Satsuki Shibano - Frkwys Vol. 15: Serenitatem - Vinyl
Serenitatem, the fifteenth installment of FRKWYS, joins Visible Cloaks with Yoshio Ojima and Satsuki Shibano, two trailblazers of the Japanese avant-garde music and visual arts scenes of the 1980s and 90s. While the music excels on an environmental level, serenitatem aims to be more than that, burning away the easy cynicism of the day and presenting itself as the kind of delocalized work of art the internet promised us decades ago - a s

This classic album scanned 34K. Aside from creating the modern template for indie dance music since the early 2000's, Murphy has been busy writing music under his solo moniker, LCD Soundsystem. His sophomore effort, SOUND OF SILVER, picks up where the debut left of, expanding an already diverse set of influences and honing the songwriting craft into a thematically cohesive whole.
As wryly noted on LCD Soundsystem's debut 2002 single, "Losing My Edge," in the underground music arms race, aging hipsters are losing ground against young upstarts who are (perhaps) unaware of their own influences. And if influences are the stuff with which post-millennial musicians are made, Murphy has trumped us all. Touching on reference points ranging from disco, krautrock, Bowie, house, and post-punk, to singer-songwriter types, SOUND OF SILVER is a veritable catalog of left-field cool. Leading off with the slow-boil, hypnotic opener, "Get Innocuous"--which sounds a bit like a reprise of "Losing My Edge" crossed with Kraftwerk's "The Robots"--the album moves from dance-floor stormers to plaintive piano numbers without batting an eye. On "North American Scum," Murphy lampoons the often mistaken idea that LCD Soundsystem is a U.K. act; his nasal vocal echoing Jonathan Richman as he declares "for those of you who think we're from England--we're not." As humorously self-effacing as he is, SOUND OF SILVER also shows Murphy's growth as a songwriter. On the album's closer "New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down," he laments the passing of the old New York, "To the cops who are bored once they've run out of crime/New York you're perfect don't change a thing." It's a fitting tribute that holds up against the countless other great songs written about the Big Apple.

Genre: Electronic

Format: Vinyl

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0754/8859/2179/files/lcd-soundsystem-sound-of-silver-2-lps_kmIMW.jpg?v=1688006096
lcd-soundsystem-lcd-soundsystem-vinyl
LCD Soundsystem - LCD Soundsystem - Vinyl

TracksCredits
1 Daft Punk Is Playing at My House
2 Too Much Love
3 Tribulations
4 Movement
5 Never As Tired As When I'm Waking Up
6 On Repeat
7 Thrills
8 Disco Infiltrator
9 Great Release

Genre: Electronic

Format: Vinyl

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0754/8859/2179/files/lcd-soundsystem-lcd-soundsystem_mWSkC.jpg?v=1688006099
tycho-awake-clear-color-vinyl
Tycho - Awake - Clear Color Vinyl

For the first time on Clear color vinyl. Considered a holy grail of Japanese music by many, Through The Looking Glass is Midori Takada's first solo endeavor, a captivating four-song suite capturing her deep quests into traditional African and Asian percussive language and exploring contemplative ambient sounds with an admirably precise use of marimba. The result is alternatively ethereal and vibrant, always precise and mesmerizing, and makes for an atmospheric masterpiece and an unparalleled sonic and spiritual experience. Midori Takada is a composer, multi-percussionist, and theater artist renowned in Japanese vanguard circles. Midori has released two solo albums: Through The Looking Glass andTree Of Life (1999) and wrote music for Tadashi Suzuki's theater plays. Her hypnotic, minimalist music is based in the concept of coherence between sound and the human body. She performs solo on marimba and other percussion instruments. She debuted on the scene of Berlin Philharmonic, performing with the RIAS Symphonie-Orchester Berlin just after graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts in 1974. She continued her career with solo concerts in Japan and abroad. In the 1980s, Midori began to explore the traditional music of Asia and Africa. Her fascination resulted in joint projects with Kakraba Lobi from Ghana, Lamine Konte from Senegal, Farafina Band from Burkina Faso, and Korean musicians: zither player Chi Seong-Ja, flute player Won-Il, and saxophone player Kang Tae-Hwan. She also led Mkwaju Ensemble's innovative percussion project and still performs with free-jazz band Ton-Klami with Kang Tae-Hwan and jazz pianist Masahiko Satoh. Takada's compositions have a remarkable way of affecting the imagination. Her minimalist, contemplative music is filled with the concept of infinity and reminds us of a moon voyage, falling stars, a journey into the ocean, or a walk in the garden. The trans melodies, initially simple, begin to loop and splinter, their rhythm breaking and thickening, slowly drawing the listener into another reality.
Vinyl LP pressing.
